I have tried it at a local store. After recording, I heard loud noise sounding like “click, click” in the video. Although other features are OK, I could not bear such kind of noise. It drove me crazy. So I did not buy this camcorder.

Received this camcorder about 2 months ago and i ended up buying the extra battery cause the original only has a charge of 90 min the new battery has a charge of almost 240 min. The camera is great light weight easy to use easy to set up and has some really cool features def worth every penny that i paid for it.

I had been wanting to upgrade my 15 year old camcorder for some time, and since I no longer have small children at home anymore, I kept putting off making the final step. A co-worker had a Sony Hanycam at work on day and we had a ball with it. I began watching the sales on this amazing little creature and finally found the Sony Handycam SR65 on Amazon.com. Right out of the box it performed amazingly well with video’s so awesome I was kicking myself for putting off the upgrade for as long as I did.
There is only one problem that I have found, and it isn’t really with the quality of the camera or the video’s but with how the camera records the video; when you push the record button and record then stop the recording, it records in “clips”. You can put the clips together on the video camera but when you transfer them to your computer using the software, the “clips” will not stay together, it is actually transferred in “clips” as they were recorded. I’ve spend a little time going over the software and cannot find a way to permanently keep those clips together on my computer.
Otherwise, it is an amazing camcorder and I will use it for years to come with no regrets; with Amazon’s great price on this camera I am definitely a happy camper and would not hesitate to recommend this camera to anyone who was looking for a great family camcorder.

With two sons and an old sony MiniDv that had died, I decided to look for a new one. I saw that many models from all the big brands were coming out March and April this year, so I decided to wait. I wanted a HDD camcorder, that was small and light weight. The hard drive didn’t need to be super big, as I only have so much space on my computer.
After going through all the new models and remembering how happy I was with my previous Sony camcorder, I decided to look mainly at the Sony ones. Imagine my surprise when I saw that as of this year they no longer have Super NightShot. It is a silly feature that I just use for fun, but one that I always enjoyed.
After looking at all the new features and comparing them to this camera, I decided this one was the better deal for me. So far it has been a great little camcorder. I have little hands and have no problem shooting while doing stuff. The footage has been great in various light conditions, the battery life is very good, the mic pics up sound well without getting too much background noise, even on a windy day outside and the Super NightShot Infrared System is awesome. Plus, the price is great. I’m sad Sony discontinued it, but happy I was able to grab one before they disappeared from market.
